Several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Horry County Tuesday.
The accident occurred around 8:30am along Highway 544 on the Big Bridge above the Intracoastal Waterway in the Socastee area. The crash involved eight vehicles and there were reports of someone being trapped inside one of them.
Six people were taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries, but their current conditions are unknown. All lanes were blocked off to traffic as crews worked the scene but they have since been reopened.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
